Survived the Holiday

Friday, November 23, 2012

Had a really nice Thanksgiving holiday, just the two of us and a perfect for two 11 pound turkey. The dressing experiment worked out very well. I added diced apricots, celery and pecans to my version and Jim had the basic version with nothing extra added. We stuffed his in the body cavity and mine in the neck cavity. Plus we each had our own casserole dish of extra for leftovers. I really liked how mine turned out, Jim likes the giblet in the dressing better than using bacon.

The weather was very nice during the day, but as evening approached it got cold, wet and then snowed. It will be a very chilly weekend, so I think our Indian summer is basically done. It was great while it lasted. Just not ready for the cold weather yet mentally.

I worked today and it was busy! Had some really good deals on some items and pizzas were flying out the door at $1.99 each with a limit of six. I was able to stash some so I got some before they ran out. We went through 40 cases I heard.

Did a few errands after work with Hubby and then home for leftovers from yesterday. Why does everything taste even better the day after?

Glad your Thanksgiving was nice. Ours was very good. We had 14 for dinner--family and a longtime friend of my daughter and her family. Everybody brought something, even the teenagers. I have conversation starter strips that I put at each plate. I've done this the last two years and this year everyone was eager to see what the questions were.
