All right - I said that I would talk about this so here it goes! That wonderful part of our body called the colon - supposed to be our friend right? Well....it is but we are responsible for helping it out by eating well balanced meals with lots of veggies and fruits and drinking plenty of...WATER!!! BUT do we really do that? NO!!! Well guess what - that lovely colon can hold up to 12 MEALS!!!!!
NNNOOOOOOOO!!! I can hear you yelling just like I was - I did not realize that, but it is true. When you are not having a regular daily BM, your stomach area can actually bloat up - making you feel sick, and tired to name a few things.
Now then I have some good news - want to change that around - I have found what works for me but talk TO YOUR DR - this is what he told me to do.
I am having to take stool softners on a daily basis. I take one in the morning and one in the evening. Part of the problem is my weight but the other part is the meds that I have to take for my knees. I have to say I am more regular than I was but I have to be careful...they can still be rather hard so until I have my body on a regular schedule this is what I have to do. The more water I drink the better I am. Keep on and eat your fiber - there are many ways to get regular find what works for you and do it - don't let that colon hold 12 meals!!!
Eating 5-6 fruits and veggies a day really help. I know that you can't do a lot because of your knee, but when I go walking or running, that also helps. The water is a GREAT idea and will help a lot. I also like to add some oat or wheat bran to my yogurt. 1341 days ago
Ok so here is a fun gross fact for the day... You can get so constipated that you literally vomit your own bowels. Disgusting but true. Another disgusting fact for the day... A woman had her husbands stool implanted into her rectum to help re-establish good antibodies to fight of a bacterium resistant to antibiotics. One more disgusting fact of the day poops can come in a myriad of different colors but the only colors your really need to be concerned about are red, black, and white. That's right don't worry about the greens, yellows, or browns Maybe even the occasionally Blue....
all grossness aside your right everyone feels better when they are regular. Good luck with that and keep drinking your water. Try not to get too dependant on the stool softeners and up the bean and probiotic yogurts. :) 1341 days ago
