Didn't even try! (and a new toy!)

Friday, November 23, 2012

That's right! I didn't even try! Yesterday. Thanksgiving day. I made no attempt whatsoever to measure my portions, count calories, or record anything after breakfast!

I haven't any idea, really, what my count would be. I made the cranberries (as usual) and used low-cal ingredients. I also made an amazing cranberry apple bread that I found a Spark recipe for. It was sooo good! And it smelled more like a cake than a bread. I still have massive amounts of fresh cranberries so I think I should make another pan of that! emoticon

But the only truly unhealthy thing I ate was a piece of apple pie. One normal sized slice. No ice cream or whipped cream on it. Oh, I'm sure the potato salad was high in fat (mayo) but turkey, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans... not really a lot of unhealthy choices in there! Probably high in carbs but I struggle to keep my carbs down anyway emoticon

So I feel pretty good about it! I don't think I sabotaged my week in the least emoticon

Then my parents decided to go on and give me my big Christmas present. I'm so glad they did! They got me a Baby Lock Sofia 2! This thing is amazing! Oh, I've got a long freaking way to go up the learning curve still but I love my new Baby Sofia! I just hope I don't cause any permanent damage with some of the mistakes I'm making emoticon I've never learned to sew. Oh, I've had a couple of cheap machines over the years but just thought I didn't have the knack for it. And I've never even thought about embroidery! But this is such an awesome little machine! I now have another tool to make presents for everyone! WooHoo!

I've been having such a time with it! I've nearly broken it 2 or 3 times (I really hope that doesn't come back to bite me later) with rookie mistakes and I've gone through quite a lot of thread and most of the scrap cloth I had around for crafting but I'm so in love with it! Must go play with my new toy now! emoticon

Doing better is always a positive! Good job.

Glad you're enjoying your new toy. Keep working at it, carefully, and don't ignore the directions when it comes to parts of it you don't know how to use or haven't used before. That should help keep it from any permanent harm.
