When eating healthy goes awry!

You might ask yourself, what on earth is wrong with a meal of salmon, broccoli, tomato, cheese and sweet potato fries?

Well, let me tell you. I burnt the fries.

So while Iím trying to get my healthy does of vitamin A in, Iím also getting an unwanted dose of carcinogens! Yuck!

I guess thatís what happens when you cook and exercise at the same time!

Oh well. I guess this is one example of when multitasking is better left undone.

And well, thereís my salmon. I cooked that the other day and reheated this one in the microwave. Itís chewier than the rubber of a carís tire! Oops!

I didnít mean to do that.

It makes me think that maybe I should be looking for some cooking classes.

Itís no wonder that not long ago my main source of nutrients was the drive-thru window or the convenience store food counter.

Donít worry, Iím not upset about burnt fries and rubbery salmon. Actually I smell an opportunity here, and thatís simply to ramp up my cooking skills. Maybe that will take the form of a cooking class, or maybe it wonít.

But one thing is for sure, Iím not going back to relying on drive-thrus or convenience stores for my bodyís fuel, so I better do something because the flavor of char is only good on foods like grilled chicken or marshmallows and thereís a reason that car tires arenít meant to be eaten!

In any case, I think maybe nowís the time I should start watching more of Chef Megís cooking videos! I think they just might come in handy!

At least I learned one thing today. If you chop a tomato and put it on top of plain broccoli, you can completely skip salting the vegetables and they still get a small amount of a salty flavor to them because of the tomato. I just added the cheese because itís more interesting that way, and itís healthier than cheese sauce which has the potential of being a sodium disaster.

So anyway, I guess todayís dinner turned out to be a learning opportunity. I love it when I get to learn something new, but then of course my palate doesnít always agree. Todayís burnt fries, they could be better!

    I have made a few mistakes cooking as well. Every mistake is a lesson in how not to do it. Keep up the good work my friend.

    What a great attitude! Your blog made me laugh and smile.. my husband challenged me to make curry from scratch a few years ago and I didn't know anything at all about it.. you buy curry powder and throw it iinto something right? Well, boy did I learn alot about spices and how to blend them. The first curry I made was so hot it could have burned down a house.. back to the drawiing board.. I did finally learn and it was a great experience but way to much work, so now it's only an occasional treat..
