What a wonderful holiday weekend it's been so far! Thursday started with a 5+k. Well, 5k is 3.1 miles and we walked 3.2! SparkFriends Steve and Debbie hosted the "Race Against the Rolls" Thanksgiving Day 5k at 7:00 a.m. So it was up early, early and drive 30 minutes to their neighborhood. They had it all mapped out with arrows. Fifteen people came. Some jogged, some walked/jogged, and some of us (me) just walked. My goal was 50 minutes, which would have been just under 17 minutes per mile. I beat it! 48 minutes, which was approximately 15.5 minutes per mile! YAY!
Then home to start cooking my two dishes for the family get-together. Oh, but the poor greyhounds, they needed a walk. So out the door first, and another 1.1 miles accomplished.
Then, prepped my two dishes and headed off to the party! It was lovely to see my daughter, grandkids, son-in-law and his extended family. My little granddaughter, Stella, enjoyed playing dress-up with her cousin, Maya.
Stella's the one in yellow.
After dinner, we were outside -- such a beautiful day in Phoenix. Grandson Hunter's Auntie Laura just loves to play with him. She got him smiling!
Hunter is an adorable little chubby baby. He's four months old.
Then home again, home again. I ate a little too much, so figured the dogs needed another walk. 1.1 miles yay!
This morning (Friday), is a day off for me. Nice! Went to the Children's Museum with granddaughter Stella, daughter Heather, and grandson Hunter. Stella had a blast. After, we had lunch and I headed home.
Oh my, I did NOT want to shop today; however, today is son-in-law's birthday and I put off buying his gift. Going to see him tonight, so I better get going. Knowing the parking lots would be insane, I decided to walk. Walk walk walk. At 1.1 miles, I made it to Sports Authority. Hey, good day to be there! The golf shirts and golf balls were half off! Score!
Then did a bit of window-shopping at various stores taking a different route home. By the time I made it home, I had logged a total of 2.6 miles and 51 minutes walking. Stretched (oh so important, do not neglect your stretching) then sat down to document my fitness weekend.
Highlights: seeing the extended family and watching the joy on the grandkids faces; scoring a deal on Luke's birthday gift; spending time with my daughter. And there are still two more days off!
