I thought I was doing a good job on Thanksgiving, keeping my portion sizes pretty small, not going back for seconds, etc. But, wowzer! When I logged the calories for the day, did I go waaaay over, or what? I know that the beer and wine didn't help at all, but was still quite surprised how many calories I could cram in there without even feeling over-full. This brings home to me once again how important calorie tracking is to my maintenance, because it's so easy to underestimate and blow the daily allowance all to heck.
Today I'm making good choices, ran my 4 miles, and will keep active by cleaning up the house from our company, all as a way of affirming that one high calorie day *does not* mean a weekend or week of uncontrolled eating will follow.
Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving and that you're doing something healthy for yourself today, be it exercise, nutritious food choices, or even just taking some extra time with family. Family time feeds the spirit and has zero calories!
