Post Thanksgiving

I took Dixie to the park this morning and got in a great walk. I JOGGED for the first time!!! It was easy and pretty good. The wind was up (30mph) and the temps were cold. 40 degrees after 70 yesterday was a shock to the system.

I had the full Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and enjoyed myself. Back to reality today. Hubby is going camping with a friend and his son tomorrow night. They asked if I wanted to go with them and I said no. 30 degrees for a low tomorrow night isn't quite what I want to do. Plus, I can enjoy a nice, quiet evening at home. He starts overtime next week so he'll be getting in when I wake up in the mornings. We can use the extra money, as car repairs have added up. Almost $2000 last month alone. And we're still paying on the trip to FL to see my son.

So, game plan is to continue to incorporate jogging into my walks and increase it until I can jog non-stop. Woo hoo!!! I've been running the stairs (ramped it up from walking the stairs) at work. When it's cold or I just want to do a 10 or 15 minute burst of activity I walk the stairs in my building up to the third floor and then the hall and back up and down the stairs on each end. Good, quick workout.

I decided again, that wheat is not my friend. I added whole grain english muffins to my diet and the gas and stomach pains returned. So, I cooked up what was left and gave them to my husband for breakfast.

No Black Friday shopping for us, strict no money going out on stuff for a while until we get the budget back in line.

    Inquiring minds: Is the scale still under the bed?? And did that plan work better for you?

I started out weighing once a week. Now I'm every morning. I'm worried I'm obsessing. And I'd rather not do that. So, how is that strategy working?

    I'm proud of your ramping up the stairs. That's amazing. Check out something else besides grains and make sure it's not just adding fiber.
Increasing your amount of fiber in your daily diet quite a bit above what you are used to can cause that king of problem. Try some berries. They are high in fiber. If you don't have the same reaction, then I think you have figured out a major source of your problem.

I saw a whole section of gluten free foods at Winn Dixie before Turkey day. Bread, crackers, pasta, and mixes like Bisquick. How are you handling the idea of living gluten-free?

    Good idea with the stairs. This morning while waiting on my coffee to finish I decided to just march in place, back and up. We can all find time for a little exercise through out the day if we try. I will ride my bike later today and perhaps get in some strength training also. Keep up the good work. emoticon

    Your doing good on your exercise. Good for you. No Black Friday shopping for me either. I'm glad you enjoyed your Thanksgiving. Hubby and I didn't go out to eat, we just stayed home and had a sandwich.

    WoW! Sounds like you got the exercise thing down. I wish that I could get the exercise "bug". I really dislike exercise, but it does make me feel better. So, I make myself do it. The only way that i have been able to get it get is to join an exercise class and I can't find one that meets everyday. So If I don't go to the class, I don't exercise. Well, I do house cleaning on the days that I am not exercising. You are doing a great job. keep it up!!
