Thanksgiving 2012

Friday, November 23, 2012

Today is Thanksgiving. I am thankful we have enough money for fuel to drive to my niece’s home (100+ miles one way) for a family get together.

As we left the house today, the sky was clear and bright blue. Not like yesterday when it rained most of the day. So nice to have so few gloomy days around here.

When we arrived, most of the other guests were already there. That was a nice surprise as the “usual” event ends up with people straggling in hours late. My daughters were there along with JR #1’s husband. A surprise was three people we didn’t know. Turns out the sons are jugglers. We had fun speaking with them and getting to know them a bit. The youngest put on a juggling show for us after dinner.

The day went by too quickly and we had to leave to get home at a reasonable time. We did get home by 9:00 which is reasonable.

Did not overeat and had a totally vegetarian meal. My niece and her husband are vegetarians. We had tofurkey and so many side dishes, I lost count. Of course, pumpkin pie for dessert. Oh, and somebody brought animal cookies. That was the closest thing to meat for the whole meal.

Tomorrow we go for a bike ride in an area where I’ve not ridden before. Dan and I have gone on the motorcycle in that area. I know some others who have mentioned Big Hill Rd so now I’ll get to experience it my self.
