My workout has been the clean up after dinner, and before, but mostly after our two person supposed to be small but wasn't Thanksgiving meal.
First, the top of the fridge needed cleaning. When I decided to take out my mother's china, especially after my sister really encouraged the idea during a long morning phone call, I realized what a mess the top of the fridge was. I decorated the front dining room with candles, flowers from my DH, and china. It was beautiful. Imagine 47 year old white Haviland china with a few clear glass extras such as the salad bowls and wine glasses and you can picture the setting.
If you ever read my blogs, imagine is just what you will have to do.
I am digitally camera challenged.
After dinner, pear, blue cheese, almond salad, turkey, potatoes, gravy, cranberry orange relish, and stuffing with a Crater Lake Winter Rose bottle of wine, it was time to clean up. Love the man, he's my partner in crime, but in no way was he going to help me clean up.
After I took I shower, he asked, "do we have a platter for the turkey?" Oh, why I didn't see this coming.
I was in the famous Dollar Tree yesterday and I asked, "do we need a platter?" No, of course not. I know I should have bought the disposable/recyclable aluminum platter but no, I had to listen to him and didn't.
I got my beautiful china platter out from the cabinet above the dirty fridge. So far so good. And then I took a shower. And, then he took the turkey out and began cutting on the platter. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I was "distracting" because I came out naked and said, "Please don't do that." And gave him a cutting board instead. Nothing happened to the platter.
Thank g-d, I am so sure my mom was watching over us at that moment anyway.
Dinner was great, our prayers were great. It was a very pleasant first Thanksgiving meal together. (We didn't actually eat Thanksgiving together just after our wedding last year, so this was a big deal for us and it was beautiful.)
And, he went off to take off a rest. No big deal.
Unless, you are the hired help. (okay, me.) I have got the oven on self-clean, I've got the dishes washed, the special decor put away and I'm sweating. It's been a 45 min workout lifting, reaching, moving, turning and putting things back in order. It was great. I'm happy, I think I'm burning off some the calories and I feel good.
So, if you get a chance to cook & clean during the holidays, let me just say, go all out, clean that fridge top and whatever you've neglected this year, you'll earn some great fitness minutes for deep household cleaning!!
Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Holidays Everyone!!
