THE SILLY SEASON IS UPON US - Part 1

Thursday, November 22, 2012

ALL MY BLOGS FROM NOW WILL BE OF THE FESTIVE NATURE....SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME

Yes, the silly season is almost upon us...........for us South Africans it starts with the beginning of the December holidays, and continues way into the New Year, when all the resolutions we have made, have been broken in the first couple of hours of the New Year. emoticon

Now please don't get me wrong.....I love the build up to Christmas. I love the beautiful decorations in the shops and shopping malls......and I love the playing of Christmas Carols (upto a certain point). emoticon
There are so many Christmas Carols and songs available, why should we have to put up with the fact that Rudolph has a red nose, or White Christmas for the umtenth time in one day....I mean what is up with that.
As for the Christmas adverts (commercials) on TV. Yes its Christmas, and the stores have to make money, but do they have to start in November. Good grief, I haven't even celebrated my birthday yet, and the Christmas commercials are already in full swing.
Now for you that don't know. I work in retail as a data capturer.....and as everyone knows, shops dont close early in the silly season. Surely people should be able to plan there shopping well in advance. What it is with LAST MINUTE SHOPPING. Surely people should realise that if I didn't get Christmas Crackers last year, I should plan to get them earlier this year. Scrambling around on Christmas Eve is well........okay I wont say it.....I think we have all done that.
Then we overeat on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and over drink on New Years day, with all the promises and resoutions that we will change for the better in the New Year.
We will have to wait and see, what happens next year.

Thank you for your light-hearted post.
The gift giving and stress of Christmas is not needed.
Let's be silly!
I love it.
