Lots of walking/Taco night

Wednesday, November 21, 2012

Cooper and I walked over 12 miles today. Actually cooper walked about 9.6 miles, and I wore him in his carrier for the rest. Toting him in his carrier is good for my posture, because I have to keep my back straight and my shoulders back to keep the straps in place. It was a beautiful day for walking... about 50 degrees and sunny. Cold wet weather is in our near future, so I am taking advantage of the nice weather while it is here. Still didn't get in the ST. I went to the library instead. (Flexed my mental muscles!)

Tonight was a family taco night, so we would have a chance to have a meal with my niece, Tigan, before she left to go to her mother's. It was a good thing I ate lighter than normal at breakfast and lunch, because I assembled and ate 3 tacos at dinner, plus a salad... and then had pie and ice cream for dessert. I am still within my calorie range for the day, but I usually stay at the low end of my range and today I am at the high end of the range. And tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so I know I will eat more than usual at dinner once again. I will eat a light breakfast and lunch again tomorrow to keep things in balance. I like to spread my calories out over the entire day more evenly, but Thanksgiving only comes once a year, and taco night is a very rare occasion, so I will survive eating half my day's calories at one meal on these two days. I will get right back to normal on Thursday. I doubt it will affect my weight loss this week.

I don't think I will get 12 miles of walking in tomorrow, but I will try. Cooper might appreciate a slightly less athletic day for a change though. I will see how he and I both feel tomorrow. My arthritis in my feet has been acting up the last few days, so I might like a slightly less athletic day tomorrow too.

The distances you walk are an inspiration. I have a new dog and I'm hoping to keep him in good shape just like you do. You are a wonderful pet owner.
