My oldest child seeing my frustration and the level of pain I was in suggested that I go to the Emergency Room. There is a new facility that opened up a few months ago that is an Emergency Room and medical office facility. As it is new there isn't much traffic to it as yet and it is 16 blocks from my house. I figured a second opinion would not hurt things. I was out in an hour.
I had X-rays taken and I now know in fact what is wrong. It is the cartlidge defect in my knee acting up again after 25 years. I was put in a knee immobilizer, which basically is just a splint for my whole leg. I was given prescriptions of naproxen for the inflammation and vicodin for the pain. I have to keep ice on it. I am feeling better with the immobilizer and the vicodin. I left a message with my primary care Dr. to call me back about what I found out and the MRI is still strongly recommended. I might have to have surgery done on it, which I am really hoping that I don't have to get. I have been encouraged to keep walking on it, which I will do at little bits at a time. I haven't really determined how much at a given time yet.
Tonight is a Fire and Ice Show at a outdoor mall up the street from here that starts at 6:30pm that I would very much like to go to with the family. It sounds really interesting to see. It is another beautiful day here it is 68 right now. Just doesn't seem like the holiday season with the warm temperatures.
