Exercise Excuses

Losing weight to avoid knee surgery but in the mean time I have to watch what exercises I do to prevent current knee pain. I am taking meds for my pain but I still have to exercise.

    I also have 2 arthritic knees and both need to be replaced, unfortunately. I am trying to lose weight so I can have one knee done at a time. For me, just doing chair marching helps ease the pain. I have to exercise sitting down. Check with your Dr. and see if he/she can recommend some good knee exercises for you to do. Take Care.

    I AM IN EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE YOU ARE! I HAVE GOTTEN OVER 100 POUNDS OFF BUT STILL HAVE AT LEAST 100 TO GO. THE RECOVERY TIME FROM THE SURGERY WILL BE MUCH EASIER WITH THE WEIGHT OFF. BUT I AM AFRAID THE KNEE WON'T HOLD OUT UNTIL I GET THE WEIGHT OFF. WORKING HARD AT IT THOUGH. BUT LIKE YOU, I CAN'T DO THE NU-STEP OR THE AIR-DYNE ANY MORE AND THOSE WORKED ME INTO A GOOD SWEAT AND REALLY BURNED THE CALORIES. LET'S HOPE WE BOTH GET THESE POUNDS OFF IN TIME TO HEAL REALLY WELL AND THEN WE CAN SCHEDULE A RACE SOMEWHERE.

    Check out some of the exercise videos that you can do sitting down. They may help.

    I'm in the same exercise/ knee pain situation. The only type of exercise I've found that does not aggravate my creaky knee is swimming. Good luck! emoticon
