I had been kind of anxious about running 11 miles. Crazy, because this is a distance I have done before. I did run a HM a couple of years ago...hello! But I was in WAY better running shape then.
I think I was so nervous about this run based on what 9 miles did to me. The last mile of my 9 miler was brutal. I was really worried about the same thing happening today.
Well...it sort of did, but in a good way. You see, I was perfectly fine in the 9th mile today. Even mile 10 was decent, though I was getting way slower with each mile at that point. All of mile 11 wasn't brutal...just the last .5!
The moral to this story is trust the training plan. If this experience holds, then I can expect to be comfortable through the distance of my previous long run, and maybe even a bit farther than that. And if today's experience mirrors the 9 mile run, I'll be fine by tomorrow. I can barely walk now, though. I'm really glad to 'only' have to run 5 miles this coming weekend!
