Why I Do It

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

People never understand why I continue to eat a low fat vegan (Dr. Fuhrman's Eat To Live plan) when I say I never wanted to be a vegan, am not a vegan for ethical reasons, and even miss animal products. I use to consider myself a "foodie", one who loved to cook and to experiment with the latest trends with all foods. I do it simply because it is the ONLY way I have ever found to lose weight. I have tried other ways, and they have not worked for me. Simple as that. So, I'm stuck following a plan that works and can only occasionally have a treat or go off plan.

Do I like it. No, but it is not the only thing in life that isn't fair. Sometimes you have to suck it up and go on whether you like something or not. No one told you life would be fair. Our life is what we make it and I plan to make mine healthy and I will DECIDE to be happy about it. That's my choice.

Okay, I will agree that I am just rambling now..........

Thank you for the tiara!!!! While checking out your blog, I just figured we were kindred spirits!

I was vegan/vegetarian for 28 years and am familiar with the Eat TO Live lifestyle. I had chronic candidas, IBS, Diverticulosis, etc. Was in 2 bad car wrecks, suffered broken collar bone (twice) , shoulder & chest injuries, broken coxyx bone (tailbone) (twice) was told I'd never be able to regain my range of motion.

I defied my Dr's, found a physical therapist and massage therapist who helped get me moving again.

When I started at SparkPeople, I found Coach Nicole's seated core routines and STILL do those because of my lower back issues. Just doing those simple but important movements along with gentle yoga, have made all the difference for me. I'd highly encourage you to check them out.

I too love photography. I absolutely love your photos. You live in a most beautiful place.

Looking forward to getting to know you better.

I wish you all the best in your journey.

I sure feel for you and feel fortunate that vegan is not my only option. I like fruits, veggies, dairy, nuts, seeds, etc, but I don't tolerate pasta an grains much.
