Looks like I have messed up the count on my blogs about whole30.
Well, I will stop short of thirty as I have been cooking for two days and not done yet.
Thanksgiving is odd to me this year. This is the first year of no Mom or Dad. My birthday falls on T every seven and eleven years. Have always been invited somewhere and never cooked T dinner. I used to fight having turkey saying I did not want to be told what to eat for my birthday dinner.
Well, first year without Dad and first chance to decide what I want.
I told DH I wanted to go camping. Going to Quartzite in the Airstream for 5 days (where we were invited to join in the T dinner by bringing a dish to pass).
I said that is not happening. I like knowing what I put in my body, don't want a headache.
So, I planned a full paleo T dinner. Have been cooking it for two days and not done. DH is going to cook the Turkey tomorrow. I just have a sweet potato casserole left and I will make gravy when we get there Thursday. If I find any more time and energy, I have more sweet potatoes to slice and make chips.
I made 12 lb ground beef jerky Sat and picked out recipes. Sun shopped and started making and baking. DH is always complaining about wanting crackers. I made four kinds, all small batches. I made mashed cauliflower, mayo and coleslaw, mayo and broccoli, bacon, grape salad, cranberry sauce, stuffing, bread, roasted Brussels sprouts, balsamic onions, pecan pie and two ice creams. One pecan praline with extra pecans for topping and a Carmel sauce. The other is double chocolate with dark chips. They are both with the custard type coconut ice cream. I made him treats. He is chocolate crazy so i dipped cooked bacon in dark chocolate and three kinds of nuts in the left over chocolate. I also made a very large spinach quiche. We had some for dinner with the two salads.
So, what I just noticed was it appears to be the first time in my life that I decide what is for my birthday dinner on T and chose the full turkey meal.
