So, yeah, I've been an emotional mess, so here she goes, Im not good with expressing myself, but wanted to share a lil bit of me....
Hard to believe that it's because my military sis and I went shopping for books a few years back....yep....I was due to have surgery, so we went shopping for something to read. We each picked up a book, I picked up some forgotten story and she picked up TWILIGHT....we planned to swap books when we were each finished....well....I took my time getting to read it, but she stayed on me about it. So I read it....next thing ya know we are the dollar theater watching Twilight! We were dorks and we knew it, but we also had no shame! LOL! That year she had a Twilight party where we each dressed up! laugh if you want, but we had a blast and were enjoying ourselves! At this party, I started to get to know another certain someone who had yet to read the books, but before ya knew it...we had her HOOKED TOO!
Along came New Moon. This one I viewed with a friend from back home. We were traveling so I missed it with my Twi-mommas back in GA! After my return, my Military Sis had done some research and we planned our FIRST Moms weekend away......a Twilight Convention in Atlanta! We packed up our bags and left our kiddos for a full weekend for the first time ever! So much happened that weekend....way too much to go into here, but our friendship grew and our love for the Saga deepened. While there we had experiences we only dreamed we could have! ***cough***cough***....hugging Dr. Cullen, getting witty with Billy Black, singing along with Mike Newton, and so much more! We danced and laughed, made new friends. Even were dazzled by the likes of Alanward and his sparkly crew! We enjoyed everything going on around us, taking it all in. We were astounded as folks bought up lots of auction items....we were especially astounded at some ladies who were winning most of the auctions! We just couldnt fathom what any one person would do with all that Twilight stuff!
I may have missed the New Moon premiere with my GA gals, but we still had lots of New Moon fun! As excitement grew toward the New Moon dvd release, We had a mini party. We chowed on New Moon themed treats, played New Moon board games, and just enjoyed our time together and our silly addiction. As the release grew closer, my mil sis had done some more poking online and found a dvd release party in Macon! We were excited to see the movie together (it was going to be played at the release), but what was even more exciting was that this event was going to benefit some local charities! How cool is it that we were going to be hang out and fun with other Twilight moms like ourselves AND get to help our community!
By the way.....those ladies who were snatching up all those goodies at the Convention were two women who opened my eyes to the love of giving back, the leaders of Twilight Moms of MG/Esme's Heart! At the New Moon release, all around us we saw the cool stuff purchased at the auction up FOR auction and raffles to benefit local charities!
At this event we learned about the Eclipse premiere that was coming up. Twilight Moms of Middle Georgia was planning a Private Screening to benefit local charities. Our lil trio planned to buy Reserved tickets and come and celebrate our community! At that premiere, I donated blood for the 1st time!! Sadly, its not something I had ever thought about doing, but BECAUSE of this organization, I DID! And still continue doing so! As we laughed, took photo ops, we started looking around, noticing all these ladies running around in white Twilight Moms of MG shirts. It got us to thinking.....WE can be one of them, WE could be volunteers and help give back to our community ALL BECAUSE of a COMMON bond.....The Twilight Saga!
And the rest is a part of Middle Georgia History! The next two years brought more experiences. More acts of LOVE. More acts of KINDNESS. More FRIENDSHIPS.
There are way too many AMAZING FRIENDS to name, but you KNOW who you are! I LOVE you each so much! Leaving Georgia this time was way harder than when I moved from there earlier this year. Being there for the finale brought out emotions that were hard to tame. As I held hands with two of the most awesome friends a girl could ask for I was struck with the magnitude of these books. And then as I sobbed, like I havent in years, in the arms of a friend who made MY dreams come true, I was assured, this series may be over but our friendships are not. We each have made friendships that would NOT be possible without Stephenie Meyer and her dream of a meadow, a girl and a sparkly vampire.
What I gained from this group goes way beyond vampires and werewolves. I gained LOVE, FRIENDSHIP, and a PASSION for giving back!! Had it not been for two friends giggling and going back and forth over what book to choose in the middle of Target, I would not have gained the BEST of Georgia....FRIENDS with HEARTS LIKE ESME......
LOVE YOU ALL,
