NEEDING my SparkFriends!

Monday, November 19, 2012

Oh, WHERE do I start!

Today was NOT a good day! One week ago today we got the distressing news that my husband lost his job. I can't stop crying! I SO need to know the LORD delights in me and I know my SparkFriends will pray for me to that end!

I'm not being steadfast in faith and I would SO APPRECIATE that you would pray that I would HOLD ON to the confidence He promises steadfast until the END! Every step is an effort! I feel a constant barrage of attacks from the enemy! I was ALREADY struggling SO MUCH with hormonal, metabolic and emotional issues [menopause], and NOW, literally, I feel I'm drowning most of the time! So your prayers are MUCH appreciated!

I'm SO sad! Satan is REALLY attacking me! I read the book of Hebrews this morning and I'm trying desperately to HOLD ON!

Thank you for your encouragement ALWAYS and for your unending prayers!

Someone shared this with me the other day:

" The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time. " ....Thomas A. Edison

And this quote has also been encouraging!

I'm also remembering God's faithfulness to our family!

# 1 I'm thankful for my husband! In the midst of the storm, he is such a ROCK--but more importantly, that strength comes from His God! I'm grateful for 23 years with this WONDERFUL man!

The Lord’s our Rock, in Him we hide,
A shelter in the time of storm;
Secure whatever ill betide,
A shelter in the time of storm.

Oh, Jesus is a rock in a weary land,
A weary land, a weary land;
Oh, Jesus is a rock in a weary land,
A shelter in the time of storm.

# 2 I'm THANKFUL for His provisions! We've rec'd MANY gifts during this last week, and I'm humbled and grateful!

Two weeks ago I had asked my friend [whose daughter I tutored over the summer] if I could buy 30# of ground beef from them [they own a farm], but last Monday because of Dennis losing his job, I had to cancel the order. Well, last Tuesday she showed up at our door with a huge bag [probably 40#'s] of hamburger, PLUS a 35# turkey that her kids had raised for the fair [already processed and frozen]. I BURST into tears as she told me that she STILL needed a tutor for her daughter, and this was how she wanted to pay me! Oh, I'm so thankful that God helps us even in our unbelief!

#3 I'm GRATEFUL for my children!!!!! My 19 year old sent me this SWEET poem today:

My House and Family: A Letter Home
The dirt road beckons like a silent guardian
Winding through the green and warm forest
I smile as I see myself fly as a bird to its nest
My family sits on the porch watching as I run
And when I arrive, I shall finally rest
Inside the house is a feast just for me,
And I do not lie when it stretched farther than the eye could see
No more cafeteria food, oh huzzah!
And I would stay up late into the night
Talking to my siblings, my ma, and my pa.
My stomach growled contentedly
And then I yawned silently
It had been a long day indeed
And after a long semester of college, this is exactly what I need

Wasn't that SWEET! Plus, our boys EACH offered to chip in $25 for our Thanksgiving feast [not necessary, but SO AMAZING that they would be so thoughtful!]

# 4 I'm SO, SO grateful for God's WORD--His manna and strength in my time of weakness!!!!!

"Why do you complain, Jacob?
Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint." ~Isaiah 40

That bible passage really touched me. It is the one that we have inscribed on Ben's urn. We are sad that he is physically gone from us, but his poor painful and twisted body is gone. He is soaring on eagles wings. He is our Christmas angel.

Remember that God has a plan for you and it is good. As humans, it is especially hard because we do not know His plan. We have to ask, pray and stumble along. When we trust in God, we get to where we need to be.

We always have a choice: to look at our circumstances (like Peter in the water, after stepping out of the boat), OR we can look at God our Savior and decide what we will place our faith and trust in???

Psalm 116 "I love the Lord, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy. Because He turned His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.... I was overcome by trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord: "O Lord, save me!" ....For you, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living..."

Susan, each time you feel overwhelmed, call out to the Lord and He WILL answer. You matter to Him. He created you...a "cracked pot" to show forth His treasure! It is His all-surpassing power that enables us to live each day. (II Cor. 4) and vs. 16-18 "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that FAR outweighs them all. So we fix our eye NOT on what is seen, but on what is UNSEEN. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is ETERNAL!"

Even in this trial, He will walk with you and carry you when you need. Grab hold of Him and His goodness and provisions.
love and prayers... Cheryl

    emoticon God is Blessing you, and You are Blessing others with your Testimony!! Just when Satan has you down and Almost Beaten God will Bless you so much that we cannot even imagine it.
emoticon You don't have to rely on Your Own Strength, but on God's. He is Bigger than your Storm. The more we Sing God's Praise, the weaker Satan gets. Pretty soon you won't be able to hear Satan at all.

emoticon I just thought of a line in an old Carmen Song. Satan was giving Instructions to a Demon on how to defeat Born Again Christians:

Devil - "Just remind them of their Past"
Demon - "If we do that, God will just remind you of your Future"

    Your blog encouraged me! When we are weak ...he is strong. I will continue to pray for you, my husband has been praying with me Susan.

Godtube and youtube both have so many wonderful praise songs that I sing along too. Praise and prayer change everything and I love how the Lord lifts my soul when I praise him. He says he inhabits the praises of his people. Hope your thanksgiving celebration is wonderful as you trust him to get you through this storm.

Love You Sis,
Judy

    hugs to you !!! God is in the midst of your battle, my husband is going on four years of being unemployed, and we are still here!!!

It has been very stressful sometimes I just collapse on the floor and cry and say "God I am empty I have nothing left!!" But He is with us over the period of four years :

God directed us to a church we needed to be at , they love us , support us, and our true ministry is there which is working in the food pantry filling boxes for people in the community.

My faith in the Lord has grown over leaps and bounds, the strength I always had is shining out and being more known

We are being an example to our unsaved family members how God is taking care of us.

Our marriage is strong if not stronger.

Now my husband has an opportunity to go to school through the military being an unemployed veteren , so he can pursue his degree in business management , if he was not unemployed this door would not have opened up for him.

Focus on finding the beauty of Christ in your battle, God wins He always wins!! Supporting you and yo ur husband in prayer. emoticon
