Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred: Level 1, Day 1

Monday, November 19, 2012

Ouch. That Jillian? She kicked my butt! LOL!

Just finished Day 1 of Level 1 of the 30 Day Shred. I'm not dead! Yay! But man, I feel like falling over and going to sleep. It was definitely a very challenging workout for me. I can already see modifications I'm going to need to make.

-Knee issues and wrist issues had me doing push-ups as wall push-ups for now.
-Jumping jacks, I could do a few sets but then knees started bothering me so I would either jog in place or do something else that kept my heart rate up.
-The floor work though, is really, really rough on my back. I just have a yoga mat and I'm on a hardwood floor, so I think I might need to invest in one of the thicker exercise floor mats I have seen.
-I also have to have a pillow under my head because if I lie completely flat, it triggers my vertigo.

I hate my body's limitations that are out of my control. But, I will learn to adapt, and I'm still putting in as much as I possibly can physically. I can do this!

After the video was done (boy, did it go quickly), I ate some lunch, then went to the gym for some added cardio. I've read that if I want to keep losing weight while doing 30DS, I'll need to add in extra cardio at least some days of the week. So I'll try it and see what happens!

I joined a SP group called 30 Day Shredders Holiday Style. It's a group of us dedicated to completing the 30 days. Some people started early, but today was the official start day. I'm hoping to find some added support there.

Unlike when I did the SP Spring Bootcamp, I probably won't be posting blog entries every day for this; just when there's something interesting to report, so I don't bore people to tears. emoticon

Thank you for this blog! It has inspired me to try Day 1 tomorrow. I have had the DVD for a long time and have never made it through a whole day. I have limitations too and I am going to totally steal some of your adaptations. emoticon
I do hope you will continue to post how you with this program!

30 Day Shred is NO joke. Kudos to you making it through day 1 with wrist issues--understand completely how that feels! Amazing job!!!

Make the modifications you need to make, just keep going and the 30 days will fly by. I did this for the first time in Sept and got great results. I did it in 30 days with no rest days. I've read that a lot of people don't lose much weight, but do lose a lot of inches. Make sure to take your "before" measurements! I lost 5 pounds and 10 inches!

    Go for it!

The Shred is pretty hard! I've only done the level 1 myself. I do that video sporadically.

Great job on taking another challenge! emoticon
