I've had my old Palm Pre for over 2 years now and have been eligible for an upgrade since May. When the iPhone 5 was on the way I debated about switching to an iPhone. I talked to a friend who knows a lot more about the new phones than I do and she recommended I get the Galaxy S III. The phone has been at Sam's Club for $148.99, too much for my budget but would have been a great "chip in" Christmas present (family chips in what they can instead of buying something). I've been looking at Black Friday ad's and Sam's was going to have the phone on sale for 96 cents! I thought that was what I would do, I could grab a quick breakfast and coffee and be waiting for the doors to open. Last week I found out Sam's was having a VIP member event tonight (Sunday) from 8 - 10 pm and the phone would be 96 cents with no activation fee for Sprint (which I have) or AT&T (which my friend who recommended this phone has). I saw her today (in my area, she lives about 3 hours away) and told her about the price for tonight's event. I was in line at 6:30 pm waiting for my phone. Well, I was the 5th person in line at the phone counter - I have my phone and it's activated! My friend called and told me she drove straight to her Sam's and was able to get the last phone they had. We both have new phones and saved over $150.00! The only problem is now I have to learn how to use it - and fast - she was asking me if the phone did this or that before I had even headed to my Sam's.
