Early thanksgiving meal

Sunday, November 18, 2012

Let me tally the damage...

Moderate amount of turkey
A few pieces of steamed asparagus
Small square of homemade macaroni and cheese
A large spoonful of sweet potato casserole
One peanut butter and chocolate no-bake cookie
A few carrots with pumpkin dip
Half of a rice krispies treat
One piece of celery with pimento cheese
Diet Dr. Pepper

I mean... I guess it could be worse, right????? RIGHT?!??! My mom's sweet potato casserole is legendary, I tell you. People should write stories and movies and plays about how good it is. Normally, I would go back for, like, eighths. And I would be sneaking into it again right about now.

Anyway, I ate at 2pm... it's now 10pm, and I am still uncomfortably stuffed. I didn't even bother with counting calories today, but maybe... just maybe... I didn't exceed too badly.

Even the dog passed out when we got home at 5, and she hasn't budged since.

Happy early thanksgiving, everyone!

Looks like you made some good choices. You had lots of veggies, limited desserts, and took advantage of the holiday only food. Kudos to you!

We ate at 1PM yesterday, so it was good to be awake and let some of it burn off anyway!

Maybe I am wrong, but I figure 'you gotta live'. If I have a higher cal day 'on occasion', I try to make sure my average for the week is reasonable. I didn't get fat by overeating on just the holidays. Even thin people eat more on those days. I got fat by overeating every day. Now my high cal days are the exception and not the rule. I think you did ok. If you had skipped the legendary sweet potato casserole, you would have felt miserable and may have really binged later. Happy Thanksgiving!
