I decided this weekend was testing myself for the holidays. I decide to let go a little and not think as much about what I was eating to see how that would fair. I know I tell myself going into the holiday season I will watch what I eat, but my biggest fault is mindless snacking, which our family does as if it is a sporting event. So I had to see how I may need to prepare for the holiday, whether to workout more or prepare for the damages.
Surprisingly, even when I am not "thinking" about what I am eating, I still do fairly well. When we had pizza for my nephews birthday party, I picked the one with veggies and did not add the cheese, and I had very few chips and dip. I did indulge in cake and ice cream but only a small bit. When I went out to eat with my mom to our favorite Italian place, I got the hot sub I wanted but only ate half, and started it with a salad.
Even without consciously thinking on what I was eating I did well, sure I may not have stayed within my calorie range, but I did not over by a ridiculous margin, and I still worked out like I intended. AND I still on drank water! AND I still lost another 2 lbs!!! So, although I do not intend to derail my efforts over the holidays, at least I know I am more prepared than I am aware. I am already planning to make a veggie to bring to the Thanksgiving party, so at least I will have something to eat with my turkey other than just green beans!!! I am thinking roasted brussel sprouts with olive oil and garlic, maybe a touch of parmesan.
