I walked the dog... and walked, and walked

Sunday, November 18, 2012

I walked Cooper 9.4 miles today, most of it this morning. He was starting to drag by the time we got to the home stretch, and then he spotted a couple of deer and got very excited. He was running this way and that and barking his fool head off, even after the deer ran away. Silly pooch! On our evening walk we ran into one of his doggy friends who was also being walked and we paused so they could play a little... and then we spotted more deer up by the cemetery and the running and barking commenced once again. Tomorrow I will be a nice person and take him for shorter walks, so he can recover from today.

I had planned to get on the bike today, but TOM was kicking my butt, so instead we took that long walk then I sat in my recliner with my feet up and the dog curled up in my lap. He is just as good as a heating pad or hot water bottle. Hopefully tomorrow will be easier with the whole pain thing. To add to my discomfort the arthritis in my feet decided to act up today. Definitely thankful for ibuprofen today! I don't like taking pills, but I took one today so I wouldn't be miserable. Good news is that now I am not miserable.

I have been reading historical romances again. Just finished a good one by Jo Beverley. It was one I got from the library, and I have another by her still to read. She also writes contemporary romances, which are also good, but I have a definite fondness for the historicals. I also just finished rereading all of Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson and Alpha and Omega series'. I really enjoy her supernatural stories. Of course they are also romances at heart.

I like the historical romances too. Just started one on my nook I downloaded for free. Reading that at work on break and the Hunger Games at home.

We did get our 1.4 mile walk in today. the weather was fabulous here in MN.

Wow...you and Cooper both are in great shape! I know what you mean about the doggies being just as good as hot water bottles. Mine is the same. I love that. :)

And Cooper gets Extra Points for scaring off those Dangerous Deer!! Good thing for them he was on a Leash!! They would have been Lunch Meat if had gotten to them.

Cooper probably has lost weight too with all of the walking! he looked pretty small to begin with so he probably doesn't have much he needs to lose...lucky dog!!

Sounds like an absolutely wonderful day! Give Cooper a good scratch for all his hard work - defending mom from deer is hard work! emoticon

Spartacus, my little weasel (chihuahua), is about 11 - he can make the long walks (about 5 miles) when the weather is fine - but if it's too hot, too cold, rainy, windy ... (in other words, most days), he want to be picked up and carried a lot of the way. When it's cold, he gets carried inside my jacket - he loves that! The fluffies, Samurai & Shalako, keep trudging along. Sparty makes a really good hot water bottle, too.

Wow! 6 miles is the most Peaches and I have ever done. I know she could do more, but I don't think I could!

Poor Cooper! I run mine ragged when I walk as well. The more toys I throw, the faster they run, so I get them good and worn out so by the time we go to bed at night, they are passed out.

It feels great to know that they are getting the joy of me getting fit. And Max mopes around in the morning until I ask him if he wants to go walk. Then he's up and moving and can't sit still.

We love our fur buddies, don't we?
