Reached a goal today on the treadmill.
Walked at 3.8 mph with an incline of 15% for over an half hour.
For those who think that is no big deal, ok, you are entitled to your opinion and I am good with that.
There is something that Sparkers don't know about me.
I was in a coma about 15 years ago and was in the same position for four and a half days until I was found.
As a result I have nerve damage in my right leg and a drop foot.
I was in a rehabilitation hospital for three months trying to learn how to walk again.
Upon discharge I was given a wheelchair and it was suggested I learn acceptance of it.
They thought I would never be able to walk again.
From my blogs you know that wasn't acceptable since I have a big streak of determination and stubbornness.
I taught myself to walk again.
It wasn't easy and broke a few bones along the way but I did it.
Today I am walking.
The wheelchair was donated to a charity hospital in Haiti.
So were the walker and leg braces.
Also, as a child I had polio.
That affected both legs and also have nerve damage and muscle weakness as a result.
None of this has stopped me from at least trying to do better.
Spark People has given me the opportunity to begin to blog about these experiences.
So far I have lost almost 55 pounds thanks to SP.
I am using the same determination I did years ago to make the dream of a better and healthier lifestyle become a reality.
Couldn't have done it without all of you.
For this I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
