    Woubbie, have you read the book Wheat Belly? The doctor who wrote it explains that any type of bread (including 'whole wheat' and sprouted varieties) spikes blood sugar *more* than candy! It's a shame that 'whole grains' are promoted as so healthy, when what's on store shelves are basically over-processed, manufactured real-food wannabes ;)

    Excellent summary! Most people don't understand why they're suddenly hearing "whole grain" everywhere; it's largely because whole grains don't spike blood sugar/insulin production as much as refined flours.

    Unfortunately, even whole grain "junk" wheat is still bad for most people because of the gliadin content, so I'm on the bandwagon that ditched just about ALL grains. (I'll tolerate some breadcrumbs now and then or a bite of cake or cookie, but no bread, cereal, pasta, etc.)
