Day 276: Stand Up For Yourself!!

Something I REALLY need to work on is my posture. I really need to learn to stand up straight and hold my shoulders back. I am definitely a slumper. Always have been. Always have been self-concious and shy and not happy with my body and it shows in how I carry myself. I REALLY need to change this. I REALLY need to learn to stand up for myself in all ways including my posture. I need to feel good about ME and proud about who I am and where I am in life. Yes, I'm 36 now and not 26 anymore. Yes I'm 148 pounds and not 128 pounds anymore. But you know what else. I am still beautiful and kind and loving and SENSITIVE. And by walking around like the Hunchback of Notre Dame, I am only hurting me physically and psychologically. And it needs to stop! Today! New day! New way to walk! Stand up straight! Shoulders back! And walk like you KNOW you are beautiful and worthy of the shared smiles of those who pass by. I CAN DO THIS! I AM WORTH THIS!


NO MORE EVIL POSTURE! BE GOOD! :)

    I've been thinking about my posture today, and I realized I was deeeeeeply slouching when I came to read your blog. Lately when I'm standing or walking/running, my posture is good, but sitting down? Awful. I need to work on that!!

    I need to work on my posture too! I'm fine when I'm standing, but when I sit I hunch, and I do NOT want to be one of those old ladies with a hunchback!

You are also right about the posture thing! So important! It's something I work on as well.

    Posture is something I need to focus on. I've noticed that I hunch when walking, so I am working on that as well.

    Strength training, particularly the core, definitely helps with posture. (I will admit that this reminded me of a classic Peanuts comic in which Charlie Brown explains that posture is important to being depressed. "The worst thing you can do is straighten up and hold your head high because then you'll start to feel better.")

    I have found lifting weights and being conscious of putting your shoulders back and down really helps with the posture. Mine has improved with strength training.

    My posture is terrible! I think I have the drooped shoulder, belly out posture too... the thing is, it hurts my back to try to stand/sit up straight all the time-- but maybe that will go away if I keep doing it :)
