I'm a meal skipper

Sunday, November 18, 2012

I don't really know when it happened, but I just realized how bad I am about skipping meals.

This is how my day usually goes: I get up every morning and the first thing I do is get my girls ready for the day and make them breakfast. I feed my younger daughter while the older daughter eats. After all that is done, I make and eat my own breakfast. I gotta have my breakfast!
After breakfast, I get busy playing with the girls and try to do some household chores. At noon, I make lunch and feed the girls. If they are eating something that I'm going to eat (which is rare because my oldest is super picky about what she eats), I join them. If not, I decide to make something after (which hardly ever happens). After lunch, I put my youngest down for her nap. Once she's asleep, I get any chores done that I'm not able to do with her around (mostly because she wants to help and it can get difficult with a 1 year old attached to your hip). After I'm done the chores (or almost done) is when my youngest decides to wake up. I then have to soothe her and hold her while she wakes up completely which can take up to a half hour. By this time, I have completely forgotten that I'm supposed to eat and don't end up eating anything until about 3pm while I'm getting dinner ready.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that I don't eat enough!! I skip lunch and end up eating something to hold me over till dinner and then after dinner I'm still hungry so I start snacking away.
Today, as I was plugging away my food into the nutrition tracker, I realized how little I ate before. My metabolism is crap because I hardly ate anything. The tracker has helped me realize that I need to eat WAY more!! I wasn't even reaching half of my caloric intake before Sparkpeople! I still don't know if I'll be able to fill my intake, but I'm sure going to try. I've decided I need to make sure I carry snacks around with me so that I don't have any excuse for missing a meal. A new goal to set for myself!

Onwards and upwards on to the next day!!

    Wonderful discovery! :)

One of the things I do on the really busy days is to pack my lunchbox with portioned foods for the day. Even if you are home and the lunchbox can stay in the fridge... Pack it with your fruits and veggies, nuts, cottage cheese or yogurt... Even if you have to eat on the run, you will be good for the day. Track the portions in your tracker at the beginning of the day. At the end of the day anything left in your lunchbox can be removed or edited.
