60 day juice feast: ugly apples

Saturday, November 17, 2012

Day 23/60
I am feeling great! I have lots of energy and I sleep very well. I have lost 9 lbs. I am feeling slimmer and more comfortable in my clothes. I have slipped into a comfortable schedule and love all the juices I am making.

I wanted to mention and throw out here about grade b or seconds produce. They are a great alternative to the more expensive "perfect" fruit you see in the store. I order grade b or seconds to save money. If you are juicing, what difference does it make what the apple looks like? However, a word of caution. Most often seconds will take more time to "clean up." The pictures below give you an idea of what I am talking about.

I bought 20lbs of #2 apples for $12. I have to cut away the "bad parts" but totally worth the $12 in my opinion. Some will not want to take the time to cut the apples and clean them up. This is all personal preference. I also buy 2nd grade carrots. You really can't go wrong with carrots, at all. No clean-up.

I knew about the carrots (juicer) but not the apples. Thanks!
