Update on Smoking

Saturday, November 17, 2012

On yesterday's blog, I told you it was my quit date. That was based on the pfizer GetQuit plan that I joined to help me stop smoking. Actually, I haven't had a cigarette since Last Sunday. emoticon

I figured it wouldn't hurt to see what they offered and to reinforce what I already knew needed to happen in order for me to achieve my goal. The program gave a lot of good information that strengthened my commitment to stop. So I know the program actually does work. That and the simple idea of knowing a cigarette contains over 4,000 chemicals that can kill you!!! emoticon

Anyway, thanks for all your support. Without it I don't think I could have done it. Knowing I had to account for my winning or failing to people I both admire and respect was the key to my success. So, emoticon

This is a big moment for you--my own mother tried to quit time after time, but has never--after more years than you might guess been able to do what you have done in a week. She always left a door open to use stress of any kind as an excuse. It always kept each of us feeling sad for her because we all wanted to help her. It seemed as if she could never make the big step and commitment.

That makes me in far more awe of what you have accomplished. It isn't an easy task, but your commitment will make it look that way. Keep up the good work!!

Similar to this site, when I quit I joined several quit forums and downloaded a quit meter to track my progress. I'll have 10 years in January and I've "saved" over $57,000, not really saved but used for other things. It's great incentive just like trackng your progress here. The meter is I use is Silk Quit but you can search for quit meters online. I can give links to a quit forum if you like. Congrats on your first week "butted out". It's a big step!
