Six miles. I still got it! :D

I feel great! This week I did ST at the gym twice. I was going to do the treadmill afterward, this morning, but it was so sunny I had to run outside. 53˚ today! After the gym, I went to Target looking for some cold-weather running gear. They had Champion compression tops with a slightly fleecy interior for $16.99, marked down from $19.99. I got two of those, one pair of compression leggings, a pair of looser light sweats to go over those, and one zip hoodie.
I wore those to run in. They were perfect. I can throw a heavier sweatshirt over it, later, if I want to run when it's colder, but really, I was a bit warm out there, so I think I could easily run comfortably in the 40s.
The app I run with is Easy10K with Jeff Galloway, by lolo (I've noted that before). I got through all but the last week last summer, through August. I started over with week 1 almost two weeks ago, so I just picked up on week 1 day 3, the long run. It's six miles. I figured that I'd run till I got tired, then walk the rest of it.
My lungs are surprisingly still good, considering I've been running AT BEST one day per week for 3 months. No problems at all. My hips and hammies are tight, though. I think I probably looked like I was jogging, but inside my sweats I was running like hell! I did a 7 min. run/40 sec. walk interval. That felt really good. Every so often, I either hit a walk break or made another mile, so that kept me going.
And I did keep running, the whole 6 miles! Again, no speed, but I was steady. It took me 80 minutes to run 6 miles, so that tells you how slow I was, but I don't care. I was OUT there, and I was moving. 991 calories, according to the app.
Last September I ruined my Exerspy arm band monitor. I had put it in a bowl on the counter. Later Hub put garden tomatoes on it. Well, instead of WEARING it, I had it off, since I wasn't wearing it to teach in, forgot, and first thing you know, the tomatoes got watery, and zap, that was it. $200 tomatoes. :P
They were on sale this week at the gym, so I bit the bullet and bought one. I miss it so much! I figure that it's worth the investment, since it really makes a difference in my work outs.
I realized something else today. I have always been focused on the weight loss. But as long as I keep up the exercise, once I reach goal I can actually eat a lot more, something more what like I've been eating lately, which without much exercise packed on 24 pounds. Duh, I know, but still, it's a bit enheartening to think about not having to be on 1350 calories for the rest of my life.
I'm all caught up on grading, so that's one reason for my good mood. I have just 6 class days left--next Monday, the MWF the week after, and then one final Monday. Then I have a couple of weeks off for winter break. Next semester, my classes don't start till 11 a.m. So that means very soon I can get up early and run again on MWF mornings! That worked so well for me all summer. I think I'm just too old to have energy to run after work in the afternoons. It should really make a difference.
This means I can run MWF, do gym classes T/Th, and then maybe do some winter hiking and things one weekend day. I love that. In fact, my trainer and some other women and I are going to hike in a state forest tomorrow afternoon. BLAST!!
That woman I lost? I found her out on the bike trail. She was there all this time. I feel like her again. I've been on track eating all day. For me, there is just this switch, and I never know when I'm going to be able to flip it. I don't claim to understand it, but it's always like that.
It's good to feel good again.
