Fine Reasons to Make a Mess

Saturday, November 17, 2012

I like cleaning up, de-cluttering and keeping a pretty organized house. But sometimes the best thing is making a Big Mess. I mean a significant mess. For example, what is better than building a fort out of chair cushions with a kid and disrupting the whole living room?

I also like to empty my closet once a year, and then put it all back together. It usually takes more than a day. What a mess!

I enjoy creating havoc in the kitchen while trying a new recipe. My cookbooks all have food stains (think coffee stains; olive oil thumb prints; chocolate smudges…) on them. Until they are a little messy, they aren’t really mine.

And I like getting dirty in the garden and soaking in the tub afterwards to get rid of all the dirt ground into every part of me.

The truth is life is too short to be neat all the time; it can be fun to mess up!

It's the garden messes for me! I just love digging and dividing and moving stuff around. Bliss, pure bliss.

Lots of good results spring from those messes.

What a fun blog and so true! I'm a neatnic, but a total slob for some reason when I bake (flour and powdered sugar go everywhere!). It's been like that since I started messing in the kitchen in Jr. High. I've never understood why. Back in college, one of my roommates liked to watch me in the kitchen because she found the mess I created so interesting, LOL.

Oh, so very true!! I like making messes too when cleaning, organizing, cooking, baking, etc. and oh, what a nice reward when it's all spic and span afterwards. Oh, and gardening too. Painting? Ya, that too! Thanks for a good reminder of appreciating the lovely rewards after all the messes! That's just like remodeling too that we've gone through, with the kitchen and eating area. Oh wow, we did get through it though, thank goodness, with all the dust and chaos!! Take care and you and I will keep sparking and we'll keep cleaning up our lives to have the reward of being healthier, you and me! emoticon
