Best day I've Had in a Long Long Time

Friday, November 16, 2012

I've taken a teaching contract on a First Nations Reserve in Northern Quebec (Canada). I've taught up here before so it isn't totally new but I had forgotten how beautiful it can be - especially the sky. I walked to school this morning in the midst of the most beautiful sunrise and up here it feels like you really are inside the sunrise and sunset.

Had a wonderful day with my students and then walked up after work as the sun was starting to set. Absolutely gorgeous.

Being here on SP is helping me a lot. Everytime I log on it reminds me of my goals. I remember to eat mindfully, to meditate, to drink my water etc... I read all your blogs and am inspired by all the successes big and small as well as humbled and touched by how many of us are facing the same kind of challenges.

This really is a wonderful beginning.

Keep up the good work! It sounds like a beautiful place to live and so peaceful. I always forget my meditation... I set myself goals to do 10 min a day, then poof! It' gone from my memory lol The job sounds emoticon as well. So glad things are going so well for you. emoticon Take Care

You are in a very beautiful setting to practice mindfulness and meditation. I'm from BC, but lived many years up North, close to the Yukon border and I can visualize the morning sun on freshing laid snow and those early sunsets..not much daylight in the deep of winter. I loved the northern landscape and the people.

Enjoy your teaching.. emoticon

Hey LILITH32 that is wonderful! Both the job and the location!

I am a BC girl, but I did live in Yellowknife while it was still called the Northwest Territories in the late 80's. I am curious as to how high up north are you in comparison to Yellowknife. I lived there for 4 years and yes it was beautiful. I actually did feel like I was "on top of the world". I met wonderful people from all over the world as well as wonderful First Nation's People too. One lady told me she was born in an Igloo from Pelly Bay quite the culture shock.

SP for me has been a what I call a "healthy" addiction. Very nice to be able to "plug-in" whenever needed.

Cheers,
Julia

Enjoy your time teaching and the wonderful scenery.
Never been that much up north (went as far as Abitibi) but even at the lower Montreal latitude, love our northern light, (compared to Europ where i come from)
