On October 22nd I decided to make a new 6 week commitment to not eat white flours and white sugars. I knew I was walking down a slippy slope in my eating and decided I needed to change it. I would love to say that I made the commitment and that was that....but I needed an incentive. So I talked to my husband and said " if I stay away from white flours and white sugars for 6 weeks, can I go get a massage?" He said sure. SO that has been my motivation. Did I want Halloween andy today or a massage later......did I want a piece of cake now or a massage later. The massage later has won out every time.
I also started the couch to 5K a little before that and have felt that my eating good has helped my success at learning to run. I am looking at running my first 5K Decemeber 1st. I can hardly believe it! You have to understand, I am a person that said that I would NEVER run. And here I am training for my first run. I found an amazing new friend that I run with. At first we were just going to be walking, but she asked if I would be interested in learning to run.......I hestitantly said sure I would try. Now we run almost every day and we are both super committed to this! Our average seems to be around a 13 minute mile! I couldnt have asked for a better exercise partner!!
I am feeling great! I am back to where I was in 2008 when I lost the 70 pounds between 2004-2008. I had gained some of that back between 2008-2011. I have lost 45 pounds since last Decembers 5K.
I still have a long road to go on my journey but I am feeling confident that I will continue down this path and see more success as this year comes to a close and a start of the New Year!
