A College Football Fan's Unwise Wager Gone Viral

Friday, November 16, 2012

This story begins, as all college football fan's unwise wager stories begin, in the preseason.

You see, there was this guy...

And, you see, he is a Texas Aggie, which is how I heard about him..

He made a bet to do something that he would never NEVER ordinarily do ("What would my parents say?" he thought) over what he figured was a sure thing in the college football world, that his own team, the humble Aggies of Texas A&M University, would not prevail against the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide, reigning champions of collegiate football.

Well, Tides of all kinds have a way of turning, and as the game came to its unexpected, triumphant (for the Aggies) end, he knew that he was up a creek, that he would have to pay up...

And apparently his friends wanted to make sure that everyone knew...

And it went viral...

But because Sparkpeople has a policy of being squeaky clean family friendly, and these photos are just a trifle indelicate, I'm posting a link so you can see for yourself- you can kind of intuit what to expect from the URL

Aggies have a long history of being gung ho about their teams, but this guy broke the cardinal rule of sports wagers: Never Bet Against Your Own Team!

But I got a big laugh out of it... hope you did, too!

I love that. I'm in WA state but have a good friend who went to A&M. I had to send it to her. She will love the story. Thanks for sharing!

At least he was honest enough to honor his bet!
