Setting Goals: Let's Get Real

Okay, I'm starting to really feel the motivation again today, so before something comes along and takes that away, I need some momentum behind it. To that end, I've come up with goals for myself: short, medium and long-term goals for weight and fitness. The jury is still out on what specific goals I should set for nutrition. Right now I'm upping my water intake and my next step is to eat more fruits and vegetables...

For Weight:
--Long-Term: Lose 41 pounds by June 1, 2013 (incidentally, that's my little sister's 25th birthday!)
--Medium-Term: Lost 20 pounds by my 38th birthday (March 5, 2013)
--Short-Term: Lose 1-1.5 pounds per week.

For Fitness (these are a lot more fun):
--Long-Term: Complete a triathlon (this one:
) in 2015 (the year I'll turn 40...)
--Medium-Term (I've broken these down into a running goal, a biking goal and a swimming goal):
emoticon Run (completely run, no walking) 3 5ks in 2013. Run 6 5ks in 2014.
emoticon Bike 4 miles/wk in 2013. Bike 8 miles/wk in 2014.
emoticon Swim 5 laps 3x/wk in 2013. Swim 9 laps 3x/wk in 2014.
emoticon Start 5k training tomorrow (11/17/12).
emoticonBuy a bike in January 2013 (or anyway, somehow obtain one...)
emoticon Join an indoor pool in January 2013.

Those short-term goals for biking and swimming could be tough first steps...But realistically, I'll never complete a triathlon without a bike or a pool to train in... emoticon
