Human slavery is a horrible thing! Paul never revolted against slavery, though the Bible implies that it is wrong. But Paul did tell Christian slaves how to live. Paul encouraged " slaves to be subject to their masters in everything." Titus 2:9 , he was assuming that when obedience to man conflicts with obedience to God , we owe our allegiance to God, no matter the cost. Acts 5:29 Why should Christian slaves submit to non Christian masters? "So that in every way they (the slaves) will make the teaching about God attractive." vs 10 Slaves then , were to live in such a way to make the Gospel attractive. From these verses we can identify principles for employer/employee relationships today.
Do you at work do what is expected of you, or are you shirking your responsibilities? Are you consistently on time for work? Do you overextend your coffee breaks? Do you complete your assignments as told? Are you loyal to your company? Do you listen carefully when you are told what to do? Most importantly, how much do you make the Word of God attractive to others?
