I Ain't Wasting No More Time

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Apparently, there is not much in my life other than what I'm half-jokingly calling "panic mode". What that boils down to is that what I've been doing recently is eat, sleep, workout, grade, teach. Not much else. I'm just barely following blogs, reading the internet, answering email. It's kind of crazy. I expect next semester to be far less crazy, fortunately.

However, this is where I get to chat about the first three bits of that statement, and not the last two. Since I deal with the last two all the time, I'm okay with that.

Sleep: works the way I do it. I've actually got an app on my phone now, it was free, that monitors my sleep cycles. I put the phone on the bed with me and it registers movement. It follows cycles of increased and decreased movement to determine light and deep sleep. I give it an approximate wake-up time, and it wakes me somewhere around that time when I'm in a light sleep. It also has a neat slowly increasing in volume tone that I like. It definitely helps me gauge the polyphasic sleep better than just guessing.

Eat: could be much worse, but could still be a little better. I'm fasting a lot of mornings until after 1pm. I've got a good system of food at school. I bring lettuce and cut peppers, an egg scrambled with carmelized onions, and miso soup which I bring as caramelized onions and a scoop of good miso and just add boiling water to. I also have fallen in love with Mediterranean Terra chips, but I have to watch my number of those. The leftover candy corn is just about gone! That's always a good thing.

Workout: this is my usual level of awesome, well, mostly. I'm in the weight room three days a week, no excuses. I've done a great job of maintaining that. I have not been running, though, and I need to get back on that. Just this week, I decided that I need to earn more points on fitocracy, so I'm doing morning workouts again. Three days in a row, each worth 500 points! I'll be at the next level by the end of the weekend. I do need to pick the running back up, especially if I'm going to get the vibram shoes in shape for the half-marathon in February.

So, things could be worse. I'm still improving on finding more time in my life. I'm excited about Thanksgiving because i get to be in Disney World, woohoo!!

Okay, I always say that I'll get back on here, and you know I will, just no promises as to when.

Onward and upward!

The Iphone app sounds awesome! I would definitely use that if I had a smartphone.

Do tell us more about the vibram experience! I'm very very curious.

You definitely have your challenges, and your unique ways of handling it. Even though you have ways you can do better, you're still doing well because you continue to work at it.
