We had a ride set up for yesterday morning. When we went to get our bikes, Dan had a flat. So, we repaired the tube and got him ready to go. Alan showed up and we rode over to pick up Dwight. Just got started when Alan said he had a flat. Dan had raced off so I went to catch him. I did. We waited and waited before going back to see what was the matter. Turns out the matter was two more flats. Alan must've gone through a goathead patch as he had two in one tire and one in the other. Of course, he didn't know about the second one in the one tire until he changed it. So he had to change it twice. Good thing we went back as Alan changed out the tube each time and had to borrow a spare from Dwight and a spare from me. The four of us rode to Buck Meadows where we stopped. Used the picnic table to sit down and enjoy the food we'd brought. The restaurant is closed for lunch for the season so didn't need to feel guilty about using the table. As we were getting ready to leave, Dan had a flat so we repaired that tube. Just as we got back to our place, Dan had another flat. Still need to check that one (might be the patch didn't adhere). Total distance for the day was 20 miles. Dan said he felt good after the ride. The new bike is making a huge difference for him (even with three flats in one day). I'm so glad!
Last night, I started to watch a movie we borrowed from the library. It was in French and about the French Revolution. I was about half way through when the phone rang. It was my buddy, Kevin from Santa Monica! We had a good chat. Turns out he'll be coming to Yosemite this weekend so we're going to meet him there (big smile). He wants to go for a bike ride but the forecast is for rain and cold so I don't think so...
Got back to my movie and then the DVD started acting up. Finally got it to 'go' again but I think I may have missed some scenes. Result of all this was I got to bed late so felt I had to sleep in this morning.
Woke up at 8:00 and bounced out of bed - motorcycling day! We got ready and went to the Park but no one else showed up. So, we decided to take a short ride and have breakfast before going for a longer trip. Just as we were finishing breakfast, who walks in but Ron and Marv!! They had called each other and decided to leave an hour later when the day warmed up. So we stayed and visited while they ate then we all continued the ride together. It was pretty serendipitous that we all chose the same place for breakfast.
Just as soon as we got home from that, I was off to the unofficial rehearsal for our concert in December. It was fun but my voice gave out less than half way through. Some water helped. I probably should carry around cough drops.
Dan fixed t-bone steak and baked potato. I made a green salad. That, with a glass of wine, made our dinner. As we finished he said, " that was an almost perfect dinner." I knew what he was thinking...there's ice cream in the freezer! So we each had a bowl and that DID make a perfect dinner.
