My Heart Spills Over

Thursday, November 15, 2012

In my line of work, you hear a lot of stories. Some are scams and makes you question the next person closely. But then you get the ones who are truly in need and your heart just spills over. That happened to me today.

I was summoned to my admin's office today to discover a woman and a 5yr old little girl. The right side of the little girl's face was covered in abrasions, and glistened with topical ointment. She had over 300 stitches in her right eye and over 150 stitches in her mouth. She had been in a car accident 4 days prior.

The little girl's mom is in critical condition in a Louisville hospital. They don't know if she will make it. Her 20 month old sister was sitting on the side of the car that was hit and she was killed. This sweet little girl says her sister is an angel in Heaven.

The family is looking for gas cards to get the child back and forth to Louisville for medical treatment. She is facing an additional 6 surgeries on her face. They were looking for a dress for her to wear to her sister's funeral and a dress for the baby to be buried in. We were able to take care of that. And they are looking for a way to pay for the baby's funeral. Sadly, the funeral being in Indiana and the burial to take place in Ohio due to the child's mommy's mom having her own 2yr old son buried there.

There are some days when my heart just spills over.

    Oh my!
That is a situation that there really are no words for. I give you all kinds of credit for being able to work in that environment.
