If you're curious...

Thursday, November 15, 2012

A few people have asked what the deal is with my eyes among other things. I have a cataract. Yes, I am awfully young for it. The biggest problem is that the type I have grows really quickly. So, in about 6 months I've lost a good portion of my ability to see clearly. Here's what it looks like

It's such a problem at night because when light hits my eye I can't see anything but white and halos. It's really weird because my right eye is still in pretty good shape so it's doing double duty. I don't really know how to explain it any better. I have almost no depth perception any more and I need to squint a lot in order to not have double vision when I'm reading. Which makes me pretty tired. So I'm pretty frustrated a lot of the time lately and I have to go pretty slowly when cooking or working in the lab. I also seem to be tripping a lot. Even more than usual... LOL!

Anyway, so that's a pretty good representation of what it looks like through my eye right now. I'm hoping that will be much improved in the near future. I'm trying to stay positive; but I have the occasional outbursts most likely stress induced. I really can drive myself nuts! emoticon

Spark on my friends! I'll catch you later.

That would be so hard. Big difference in the clear one and the cloudy one. I hope that the surgery reduces the stress... of course getting thru the surgery will be a bit stressful but I truly hope it goes smoothly and you'll be okay dokay afterwards. Hang in there!

Both dh and I have cataracts and our optomerist tells me my 19 year old has one diagnosed at age 18. I wasn't surprised about mine as I had already started to avoid 2 lane highways at night when it started. I think you've done a good job describing what happens with cataracts and that some grow more quickly than others. Can't wait to have you done with your operation so you can see out of your eye alot better.

Oh that would drive me batty! Can you get it operated on. I am trying to convince my dad to get the surgery currently. My mom had it on both eyes and she sees a lot better now.

Hang in there!
