A good run, at least.

Thursday, November 15, 2012

Not much to really update on today. I finally got in a run this morning - 3.02 miles in 35 minutes. With intervals of 4:1. I really liked these intervals. It felt like the time was going by faster. I made sure to go at a comfortable pace and not worry about how fast I was or wasnt. I sometimes get frustrated with myself if I am not running as fast as I want to be, but the truth is - I havent been running regularly, so it will take a while to get my pace where I want it. In the meantime, I need to focus on endurance and distance instead! But overall, great run! Much easier than last week, too. My co-worker told me I was "getting it" on the treadmill and she hadnt seen me intent on my running before. :)

Work was pretty annoying as usual. My coworkers got their calls today about their new assignments so I was definitely bummed. I got an email from the assignment guy saying that he would call me, but he never did (or he did when I wasnt in my office - my voice mail suddenly stopped working while I was gone in October.

J tried to cheer me up when I stopped by his office after work today. I think he has been concerned that he was the reason or one of the reasons I've been so upset lately. So I assured him that was not the case. I am not upset that he has to work more - that is just a fact of life. And it wont last forever. I just have a ton of personal stuff going on in my head and I am having a hard time with it all.

I did splurge and get chinese food for dinner. *sigh* Oh well. Just one meal. Tomorrow will be better.

I've been reading your blogs on my phone, just haven't had a chance to comment.

4:1 intervals are what I stick with for most runs. I hope you'll be able to catch the running bug so-to-speak again soon and get back into a routine of getting multiple workouts in a week.

I don't have very many friends my own age in my area (just hang out with parents and their friends mainly), so I know how that can feel sometimes. I thought to suggest you look into local volunteer opportunities. I use a site called Hands on (insert city/region name here) hosted by United Way. They have postings for one time gigs or more regular volunteer positions. I've met a few people doing events like sorting donated Christmas presents at a local boys home, standing in front of a grocery store taking food donations, and a regular gig spending time playing games, doing crafts, etc with girls at a shelter.

Otherwise, can you check out running groups or other exercise offerings through local running stores or Lululemon's if they have them there. The events are free and you can usually chat with other gals about your shared interest in the sport/activity.
