Hey ya'll just an update! I talk about the idea of a maintenance range, when to buy new running shoes and my mini goals! Let me know what you guy think. Do you have some mini goals?

    Thanks for the comments! PASTAFARIAN: you're totally right. I need to start purchasing new shoes before the pain sets in! I need to set a reminder for myself or something... I like your idea about overlapping new and old for a time until the old ones are retired.
    IMOJANE: I vary what I eat for breakfast a lot, sometimes sweet, sometimes savory but maybe I'll conduct a little experiment to see how I feel on the sweet days. Also, I'm totally going to add a reminder on my Google calendar for water! Good idea! I know it's silly about the water bottle thing... but you should totally reward yourself with it one of these days. ;) I know what you mean about wanting to use your whole body I've been wanting to join another kick-boxing or dance-type class for a while now - just gotta get the funds! ;)

    Definitely know how hard drinking water is...and not having too many desserts.I have such a big sweet tooth. But I actually realise that having something savoury rather than sweet in the morning really helps me. Throughout my teens I always had cereal for breakfast, not the super sweet ones (that all my friend's mum's would give them) but still, sweet cereal. I feel it starts me on sugar from the word go and I don't give myself a living chance for the rest of the day! So I dunno if you keep having them, but maybe try a poached egg or something like that in the morning which can fill you up and that won't start you on sugar so early in the morning.

    Totally know what you mean about water. There was this water bottle I had my eyes on, but t was a whopping £10 which seems ridiculous. And still to this day whenever I go to that shop I feel crap cause I really want it but won't let myself spend that much on a PLASTIC BOTTLE...! I am sure that my lack of water drnking is in resentment to that shop. But still, you're rght and it's a great mini-goal - keep drinking that water. Maybe set reminder on a calendar or something you use. At regular intervals for something to ping..

    My mini-goals are very similar but I also want to find some type of fun activity to do alongside my gym routine - like capoeira, or hip hop or something like that...I don't want to get bored at the gym and I feel I want to move my entire body sometimes, yknow?

    Runners should change shoes by mileage, not by time. Less reliable is to watch the wear on the sole. (And I know plenty of people who just wait for the pain - like you describe!)

    Another good idea is to buy a new pair *before* the current pair is shot. You alternate between them and it will be much more obvious when the older pair is ready to be retired. At first, it sounds like this will double your expenses; however, the amount will be the same as the shoes will last twice as long.

    YES, its good to get fitted for you running or walking shoes. My daughter runs and she goes through running shoes at least every 6 months if not more. I wish you success with all of your goals.
