Thanksgiving Countdown: T- 7 Days

Thursday, November 15, 2012

I've decided that for the holidays I'm not going to put unrealistic expectations upon myself, but what I desire is to NOT lose the momentum I have gained recently because I'm fully aware of how slippery that slope is. The holidays have always been a challenge for me.

I want this to be the first year that I don't put on weight during the holidays. So I've decided I'm going to blog daily for the week of Thanksgiving and the week of Christmas to keep accountable, and as a potential strategy to stay on track.

Today I am 146.6 lbs. My goal is to weigh less than 150 lbs on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This is going to be difficult for me, but it's a goal. I won't be devastated, however, if I can manage to remain less than 152 lbs by that time. Anything over that means that I made a complete pig of myself!

~~~ T-7 ~~~
Today I am traveling! It's not a direct flight so I will be in the air or driving all day. I won't reach my destination until at least 7-8pm tonight. It's REALLY hard not to munch while traveling so I'm carrying these in my purse so I'm not tempted to buy candy or chips en route.
Altogether 170 calories worth of munchies to travel on! Totally appropriate to keep me going between meals.
Highlights- I'm excited about taking my daughters on their first flight! And I found a pair of size 4 khakis that my girlfriend gave me years ago and they totally fit! emoticon
Lowlights- I'm going to miss my husband while I'm gone:(
    I like your goals and also traveling with healthy snack foods. Daily blogging will likely also help keep things on track - thinking of you!
    I have complete confidence in you. All of us are going to struggle through this Holiday period. There will be way too many temptations to eat too much and the wrong things. We just have to learn how to "taste" and not "gorge". Take a bit of everything, and NO seconds. It will still be too much and the wrong balance, but it is still within limits to make up for through the rest of the week. May the force be with you. ;-)
    You will do this and better than you think! The best part is enjoying this great fun time with family away from the table, stay busy and enjoy!
    Doesn't seems like there is always an approaching holiday to muck all the hard work up? You can do it.
I have made plans to spend the morning hiking with my sister (and any other family members we can drag along), and we're making healthier Thanksgiving recipes as well.
    Great Plan. I'm telling myself the same thing. I don't want to end up being dissappointed in myself if I don't stick to my "plan".
  It sounds like you have a great plan mapped out to stay on target through the holidays - congrats, that's a major part of the battle! I love that you're traveling with healthy snacks - I always have a hard time finding airport food that's not total junk. Good luck traveling with your girls - it should be a fun time!
    Good idea. I think I will also blog daily during those holidays. I have the same worries. I have done so well all year, I don't want to get lost in the holiday's.
Good luck to you.
    Those apple crips look yummy.
Good game plan. Please feel free to directly contact me if you need support sticking to it.
Don't forget to try in fit in small fitness moments. I know for me anyway that is the biggest issue when away from home.
my sister walks 15,000 steps a day at 63 years
old and has lost 105 pounds. she went from a size 24 to a size 10. all her health issues dropped off as the 105 pounds dropped off. took 16 months.
i gave up grain and sugary products and have lost 44 pounds at age 60. i went from a size 18 to a size 10 shorts and medium tops from a 1 or 2x. took 7 months.
use a salad plate as a dinner plate
use fruit for your sweet tooth cravings, an apple works great. helps with the chewing sensation.
fill your salad plate with half vegetables.
we are both still loosing weight until we reach our goal
