I have been trying this new system. I am using recipes from MendItandBlendIt for green smoothies in the morning. This has been really good the mornings I go to the gym. If I eat solid food I get reflux so the liquid is good. I can just sip it and go. The problem is that the combination of the exercise and the green drink is so good that I don't get hungry until dinner time. That's another thing. I have been trying . I don't eat if I'm not hungry. So today I sipped away until 2 or so. I did a good workout at the gym this morning. By 2pm I needed a nap and I wasn't hungry. By 4:30 I was hungry. I cooked some rice mixed with mushrooms, onions and veges. Turkey with red cabbage and apple. 1 small new potato. Mixed veges with mushrooms and fennel. A few hours later I was hungry. I had two soft boiled eggs and a piece of 5 grain toast. It looks like a lot of food doesn't it? Unfortunately I am under 1000 calories!
The second issue I am dealing with is my reflux medication. I have been doing some research on this lately. (I wish I had done it a long time ago. I think I have been on itfor 5 years or so.) Apparently there is a rebound when you try to stop taking it. So instead of returning to your natural amount of stomach acid there is an overwhelming amount of acid instead. I have tried this a few times before and the heartburn is off the scale. Many of the sites I have looked at suggest a weaning off period that could take months with a gradual reduction in the dose. I have found that the smoothies and small meals give me some relief from the reflux. I picked up some high test probiotics today and some HCL tablets to take with meals. So far so good.
The reason I have decided to do this is because I have read that the medication inhibits absorption of thyroid meds. Well why not my cancer meds too, and the food I eat? So I am going to give it a try.
