I Timothy 4:7-9 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
First I want to share my progress with bodily exercise. I am participating in two challenges right now. One is the Crazy Ladies Challenge and the other is the November Weekly Challenge. Both challenges are with the Spark Team "Girlies Ditching a +100 pounds +!!!". I love that Spark Team. The Crazy Ladies Challenge is to get back on track with exercise. The other challenge is a mixture of different goals each week. It helps us to get back on track. Since I had back surgery I decide to participate. I didn't know how much exercise I could handle. So gradually I have built myself back up to today's accomplishment. I wanted you to see today's Strength Training Exercises I did. It took me 1 hour and forty five minutes. Some exercise I didn't count in that time, such as facial exercise. I also had 1 hour of walking during the day. Now tomorrow I may not do as much or maybe I will. I have to go by how my body feels. I thank the LORD for helping me get this far. All these exercises I do are doctor approved. I have done some exercises previously to today that were on Spark People that I couldn't show my physician. So I had to make some modifications to suit my physical needs. So far so good. Here is today's exercise.

Now on another note. The scripture I used today is interesting. First off it says to reject profane and old wives' fables. I ponder on that. How many times do we accept or listen to things that are not holy things. I looked up a lot of the Greek meanings of words in this scripture. The word profane in the Greek means, "To cross over the threshold." How many times a day do we cross over the threshold of godliness into the world. What do we listen too? Who do we listen to? How many foolish things do we read in magazines or the newspaper to give us knowledge to handle things in our life? How do we act in our deeds? We have an instruction book with all that we need to know about things in life, it is called the Bible! God's Word is an intricate map of instruction for mankind. Those who are saved have access to understanding it. It takes serious study!
Onto the next part. The scripture says to exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little, but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. Exercise is mention twice in this verse. Both have different meanings in the Greek. The first word "exercise" thyself rather unto godliness has the definition of naked. Not like you may think. This word naked in the Greek means, "appellation" This word is used in a rare form of a noun. It means:
Identifying word or words by which someone or something is called and classified or distinguished from others." Wow! What GOD is saying here is we are to exercise ourselves in a holy way that will identify us. What is our daily language? Do we portrait in words and deeds of holiness to others or do we speak and act as the rest of the world? Can we be identified by word as holy people? Or do we blend in with the ungodly?
The next part of the verse says, "Exercise profits little." Now don't take this out of context or misinterpret it. It isn't saying that exercise isn't profitable. It says it profits little. This word exercise in the Greek means, "practice." It is a meaning for the physical. Physical exercise does profit our health and makes us strong physically. Physical exercise is necessary for us in order to get and stay healthy. What the scripture is demonstrating a comparative difference in the physical things and in holy living. There are a large range of difference. Living holy lives as Christians will profit us much more in life for our present time and into the future. Living holy lives brings us into a close relationship with God. Now I am not talking about superficial holiness or self righteousness such as the Pharisees and the Sadducee's had. NO! I am talking about a humble, repentant, urgent love for our living GOD. I am talking about a desire to know HIM through studying HIS Word, diligent worship and prayerful state of mind and heart unto HIM. I am talking about a desire to be obedient to HIM and loving HIM with a whole heart righteous love. Building a relationship with the LORD is like a relationship of a true marriage. It takes time to know the one we love. We learn trust and respect. Obedience to the marriage is important. Real love is built through trials as well as in fruitful times. Relationship need a daily tending too. We have to examine ourselves for sins in our lives. For example selfishness or neglect of the one we love. Devotion is learned by the guiding of the HOLY SPIRIT and learning about GOD in HIS Word. Intimate love of the LORD comes through daily acknowledgement of HIM in prayer, obedient living, and studying HIS Word. How much time do we give HIM? How much of ourselves are we giving HIM? I myself must daily ponder on these things and decide to live holy each day. If not I must repent and draw near HIM.
Lord help me with my daily physical exercise as I know it does help me. More important help me to tend to the holy exercise in my life. Help me to be defined as yours when I am around others. Help me to be less like the world and more like you each day. Forgive me when I fail to do so. Keep me on the path you want me on. In the name of Christ Jesus I pray. Amen!
