Just Realized I've Been MIA For Over 2 Months...

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Life really passes when you aren't paying attention! Mostly it's been passing through some major computer changes at work.

I've made a commitment with my one of my SP buds, LESLIES537 to get healthier. We made a pact via text this past weekend through the end of the year. We want to focus on eating healthier and not on a number on the emoticon. We will work on adding more exercise and better food choices-eliminating fast food. I said I wanted to blog once a week-hence this blog.

Last Wednesday, my maternal grandmother had a pulmonary embolism and is now very weak. My Mom is very concerned as she is here but my grandmother is in France. Fortunately my aunt is there but not in close proximity. I worry about how this stresses out Mom and I am keeping her and my grandmother in prayer.

On this same day, a friend of mine told me that she had had an ultrasound and they found a large mass on her ovary. She is having surgery next week. I feel for her: her Mom died in April and she is taking care of her Dad. She lives at home and is in her late 30's. I worry about her and her health. She is a friend I've mentioned in previous blog at some point. We are both over weight. I have a hard time visualizing my size. But my DH confirmed that she is bigger than me. I think that even though I sit at a desk all day, I've been more proactive with my exercise. She used to invite me to go to the gym in her complex. She would ride the bike but be staring at the iPhone. Where as I would listen to my iPod and walk on the treadmill. I'm not saying this to put her down in anyway. I guess I'm still processing. She will have her surgery on Monday at the hospital I work at. I will pick her up Monday morning and take her to work (across the street from our hospital) and then she will come over in the afternoon. Her surgery is around 4 and since she has no family that can be at the hospital with her, I have offered to stay with her overnight. Hopefully she will be discharged by Wednesday. I am going out of town on Thursday to see my father in law with DH & DD. Mom has been kind enough to agree to pick up my friend on Thursday should that be the case. I am praying that it all goes well. Her mass is quite large and she does have a diagnosis that makes it a cancer indicator due to its size emoticon However, I am a great believer in prayer and putting my faith in God.

I did have something positive going on while these last 2 things happened: I bought a new car!
This was when we were at the cemetery on Saturday visiting my Dad. I just love my Kia Soul! It's also known as the hamster car if you've seen the commercials. Actually, here are 2 links for the previous years:
This one is funny!
Emma loves this song!

I need to get my exercise back on track. I did go for a 60 minute walk on Sunday but not since. Daylight savings always makes this a challenge. But I will put my mind to it and find a way to accomplish this goal of getting healthy. I came across this book at BJ's. Has anyone seen or heard it before? I want it for Christmas but I may decide to get it sooner. It talks about fat burning foods. I'm all about burning up the fat! emoticon

At this time of year, we need to focus on eating healthier and moving more! Oh, and drinking more water!! Make it a great holiday season emoticon emoticon emoticon
