Blue Moon Redux & 5K Lessons Learned

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Here are the official Blue Moon photos I selected for purchase. All were shot by Eric Stellmach!

I thought this was a fun shot of smiling faces in a fog!

DSSECRETS crossing the finish & focused on her time. Signs of a true runner! Girl is also styling a hot pink Under Armour Tech Top and Ron Hill Compressions. Yeah, she has the hot pink jacket to match!

I am so proud of her accomplishments!

Running straight into your leaving room!

That look tells me I gave it effort!

D & I at the Post Race Party!

I enjoyed this race with a new course and location in 2012. I'm hoping they will keep the same setting in 2013! We spent a good time running by the Gulf!

(After 28 5Ks in 24 months!)

emoticon I should have started this healthy lifestyle a long time ago!

emoticon I was smart to go to a running store, get a Gait Analysis, get properly fitted, and invest in a good running shoe.

emoticon When I eat, I'm fueling to run. I want to burn as clean fuel as possible.

emoticon I look at my weight as payload on my run! Lighter is better and that encouraged me on my way to my goal weight. It also helps me maintain now!

emoticon All 5K courses will be different AND can be shorter or longer that 3.1 miles!

emoticon I listen to my body now. Initially, I didn't and spent 5 days in the hospital as a result!

emoticon I do NOT overtrain anymore!

emoticon I embrace recovery. I found out that because I give it everything in a 5K, I actually work my body harder that when I do a Half this time!

emoticon I catch endorphins from 5Ks. I also found others who also go hard and catch them as well.

emoticon I'm glad I started my first few 5Ks walking through SparkPeople Official 5K Your Way Walk/Jog Program/Team!

emoticon I'm also glad I went deeper into the "Dark Side" by joining SparkPeople's Official 5K Your Way Running Program/Team!

emoticon After all my 5Ks, I am so thankful for the Jeff Galloway Training method!

emoticon I am constantly tweaking my race plan. We are all unique! I take what I learn from all my sources, I weigh it, test it, and modify it based on my race performance.

I am always learning and passing it on. I can only answer on what I've learned during my run experience. I am ALWAYS open to questions. I will have an answer or find it! I owe that to all my Spark Teammates! Pay it forward! Much love...

Thanks for spoting the lessons learned--I was wondering where to go after my Rookie 5K Your Way program is up in a few weeks. I may have to saunter over to *not rookie* 5K Your Way team. Love the other lessons, too. Thanks for posting!

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing. Good lessons, too. I am also thankful for Galloway and FitNiche (my running store) and SparkPeople and my SparkFriends like you. I would not be a runner if it wasn't for them!!
