Countdown to My 40th Birthday

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

I've been off plan for quite awhile. But now that my daughter is settled into her new home and I know I can see her at Christmas, I'm able to reset my healthy routines. There are 101 days left until my 40th birthday. I don't normally do well on long streaks like that, so I'll allow for some flexibility. I'm starting a new breakfast and exercise streak today. I did one back in August. This time, my exercise has to get my heart rate elevated to my target mindless pedaling. I'm going for real calorie burn this time. I'll be flexible so I don't have to do it every day. But I will always try to do at least 30 minutes, even if it's a leisurely stroll on rest days. I'll also try to do the exercise in the morning but again, I'm okay doing it later as long as it gets done.

The third element of my challenge is tracking food. Ugh! I've been around long enough to know that it works, but I still don't like it. Since I know I'm always over my calorie budget when I don't track, I know I gotta get back to it.

So, I'm getting back on plan. I'm going to celebrate getting older every day by making healthy choices until my birthday. Then I'll just keep going and probably come up with a new challenge.

I have 107 days left until my birthday (looks like we're close together there!), and I really want to make it to a healthy weight by that time. I really wanted to make it in 2012, but with 7 lbs to go, and my loss moving at around 2 lbs per month max this year, it's not going to happen. I hope that I can lose those 7 lbs, though, in the 3.5 months left!

I should try to make a walking streak...

One step at a time! As long as you stick to the plan, you should do all right! Shel
