Kicking Diet Soda

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

October 14th I decided to see if I could go 30 days without diet soda, and as of today I still haven't had any. Whoohoo!

Now, off to the store to buy a couple two-liters! emoticon

Just kidding.

I did consider a few times buying a regular soda, "Hey, it's not DIET. . . Right?!" But I managed not to. I have stocked up on herbal teas, though. Tasty stuff. I had a few artifically flavored drinks (Crystal Light, Arizona Diet Peach Tea), but only a few and I'm not making a habit of it.

Anyway, yay!

Nicely done!! I made some concoction to help with kicking the soda habit (I don't buy it because my kids will drink it…so that helps me a lot…unless I'm by myself emoticon .

But, I will try and remember it…it was a "fake" soda thing. I think it was just brewed ginger tea with stevia (if you can have that) poured over ice. It had the zing of soda. You may just like the ginger tea with no sweetener if you get used to it. I guess it depends on what you like about diet soda (I like the zing and the sweetness). emoticon Here's to continued success!

I totally cut sodas a couple years ago, it helped me a lot to lose weight. I also got rid of regular headaches.. and I was a heavy user.

I replaced my pop with "Propel" I think it was called, not sure if they still do it. It was a product by Gatorade which was kind of flavoured vitamin water.. It was double help since it got me eventually into drinking plain water and leave the soda to people who didn't care about their health ;)

I haven't had soda in many years now, I never ever crave it and I just don't like them anymore.. You can do it :)

Very nice! I'm on a 60 day abstention program (workplace challenge) and I'm currently on day 6 and I don't particularly miss it, but I do feel weird when I eat out, what do I drink?. The water usually tastes terrible, and things like lemonade or similar have so much sugar it seems like a step back! I've taken to carrying cases of water around with me in my car...they fit well in my trunk with the cases of diet coke thats still in there... :-)

It's funny..I've tried the same thing. I did go to regular soda, sorta figuring I'd be less inclined to reach for that since there are calories to log then. Now I only drink soda every once in a while. Good luck and stay strong!

I'm convinced that ditching the diet soda (a lifelong habit) is one of the keys to my weight loss this go-around!

It's not that soda's so bad, it's just that losing the soda made this whole effort more of a lifestyle thing, as opposed to a diet. I definitely feel healthier that I've dropped the habit -- and when I have taken sips of others' sodas since, it's tasted positively gross to me!

    Congrats, Cherry! emoticon

emoticon Glad that you have done so well. I just gave up regular coke for sometime now. Drinking water w/pink lemonade/lemonade in it. Continued success on your journey. emoticon emoticon emoticon here's to drinking more water. Judy
