Running in FL

I am down at a conference in Jacksonville for a few days. Later this morning I give a presentation on my research. I must be a little nervous about the presentation, because I did not sleep very well last night. So, I got up early, put on my running gear and went out into the early morning drizzle and did a 10k around the Jacksonville waterfront. I wasn't very creative, I just did the loop around the Acosta bridge and the Main St bridge 3 times, plus getting to and from the hotel. There were a few times that I was not feeling it, and was tempted to cut it short to head back for a coffee and a shower, but I stuck with it. I finished at 49:15 for a 7:57 pace.

Sometimes you are really feeling it, sometimes you aren't but you do it anyway!

Added on 16 Nov:
As a follow up, I was concerned that I would gain on the trip (it is hard to eat as well traveling as you do at home). I was pleasantly surprised at my morning weigh in today to have no change from prior to the trip. Now if I can have the same results after Thanksgiving and Christmas!

    Wow, you're a speed demon! Congratulations on conquering the travel-exercise's always hard for me to run on a "working trip", so you have my admiration.

    Congrats on keeping the scale in check! I just got back from a mini-vacation and wish I could say the same... Nice pace on the run, too!

    Way to go. Any time I had to travel when I was in the Air Force, I always tried to make time for some exercise. I just wish I could have watched the calories a little better. (ha!)

    Awesome job on getting in a run even though you was not totally into it. I have had a few of those myself. I get some of my best thinking done on those runs.

    The presentation went well, had a few jitters but they went away once I got into the presentation. Now, after little sleep, a good run, and a long day of meetings, I am exhausted. I need to find a light dinner and get some good rest tonight. Back to Mass tomorrow morning!

    Respect for doing the presentation. Being a little nervous would be an understatement for me. Not something I could do at all.
